Yip! Back into the swing of things once again :-) Installed FreeBSD 5.2.1 (RELEASE) onto the laptop so am back into the world of Unix
Been interesting as 4.10 at first would not let me use the PCMCIA card. Apparently 32bit cardbus things are not support in that release. So off we went to 5.2.1 Oh how lovely it is having cable as in 3 hours you can have a complete ISO file available!
ACPI is not working to well on the CPi300DT as it keeps on freezing the startup sequence. Will have to try and see what I can do to get the APM services working. CVS'upd the ports and installed the latest source codes as well. Tried to get the Wireless LAN card to work but no luck on that one yet. Need to email the maintainer of the code and provide USB device info as it seems that my model might be slightly newer. Oh well hold thumbs for me that it works.
KDE is now installed and working at the correct resolution. A big thank you goes out to OSNews for providing a link to the Debian User guide. That had details about the monitor settings for this laptop so I can now get 1024x768 in 16bit colour.
