... Think Ahead ...

I'm busy copying MP3's onto my PDA (a Dell Axim X5 Advance with 128MB SD Card), well actually I'm using Windows Media Player 9 to convert the MP3's to 32kbit WMA files so that I can squeeze a little bit more onto the device. Yes the quality is a not as good but I need to get as much on there as tomorrow I head off to Bournemouth on the train and that journey is going to last me from 15h59 until 19h03. Get the idea yet? So I'm watching the copy process and Microsoft should really get with the multitasking thing. First WMP converts the mp3 to wma and then it copies it to the device, so the most CPU intensive bit is the conversion process but the copy is dead straight forward. So why not start converting the next mp3 while doing the copy? We should be able to save at least a 1/4 of the time! I fired up Task Manager and File Conversion 95% CPU used.

Copy Process 10% CPU used. We've got spare cycles so use it and get things done faster for me :-)
