Getting around Telstra's DNS blocking

As ordered by the Australian Federal court Telstra has begun blocking access to The Pirate Bay.

While I've no need for the site I don't like knowing that I can't get there should I want to. The Telstra block appears to be DNS-based so feel free to change your DNS to something else, such as Google's, to get around it. Or if you're like me and prefer to use ISP DNS for speed and are on macOS create /private/etc/resolver/thepiratebay.org with the following content:

nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4
nameserver 192.168.1.1

Now any requests to said domain will be routed via Google's DNS servers avoiding the block.
