Protect your attention
Andy Orin's latest "How I Work" series featured Jason Fried. An interesting article but this definitely stood out:
I can’t stress this enough—protect your attention like you protect your friends, family, money, etc. It’s among the most valuable things you have.
Sage advise indeed and I've long since switched off almost all notifications in apps and been super careful about RSS feeds I subscribe to. Just this month I've turned my back on Twitter and removed the app from my Mac and iPhone/iPad. If there's anything I want to catch up on I can fire up the website (which isn't a great experience so doesn't happen too often).
