Acorn RISC OS Emulation
In the late 1990's I had an Acorn Archimedes A310 which I quite liked. It kept me occupied for many an hour and was used for a large chunk of my school work. I think I will always have a soft spot for the machine and RISC OS itself.
Recently I was able to scratch the nostalgic itch with RPCEmu using the easy-start bundles. My machine had RISC OS 2, so RISC OS 3.71 was the most familiar to me. It allowed me to run my favourite game - !Hamsters.
It even contained a book I would have loved to have had as a kid - A Beginner’s Guide to Wimp Programming on RISC OS Computers by Martyn Fox. I was stuck creating BASIC apps, and never was able to scratch my RISC OS GUI itch. I can only dream of what I would have been able to create with this.
There is something quite weird about using a system like this that you haven't touched since 1997 or 1998. It was fun, but time has moved on. I'm sure I'll cross paths with RISC OS again. Until then, thanks for the amazing memories.
