NBN customers paying for FTTP upgrade giving neighbours cheaper access

Jessica Longbottom, writing for ABC News:

She was surprised to be told by the installer that the five homes in between her house and the connection point would now be able to get FTTP connections to their homes at a much cheaper price, as she had paid for most of the necessary infrastructure.

Up until 2013 the policy was that, for up to 7 years, you'd progressively be refunded for any additional take-up of the fibre connection. Of course all that changed with the new MTM model/policy.
