Woolworths Rewards Points Stolen
Apparently Woolworths Rewards cards ‘hacked’, points stolen:
The breach so far appears to have targeted new cards issued as part of an introductory promotion for new members offering 5000 bonus points, which equates to $25. It is not clear whether existing accounts have been affected.
A few weeks back Andy signed up for this special offer only to find that when he tried to use the card on Friday there were no points to be redeemed. Got in touch with Woolworths who advised that someone redeemed the points for a Vodafone voucher in Hurstville NSW.
To their credit Woolworths immediately issued a new card number along with the bonus points. Here's hoping that the same thing doesn't happen again. It'd be great if Woolworths could send a push notification or email as soon as you redeem points. At least this way customers would be able to keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
